His work covers many areas: reportage, portraiture, still life, landscapes, Romanesque architecture and travel. In particular, he photographed with intensity Spain, Portugal, Turkey and the South of France. His images combine formal rigor and sensitivity, and demonstrate his attachment to daily life as much as to heritage. Among his famous images is The Wedding of the Funambulists taken in Toulouse in 1954. Jean Dieuzaide received prestigious distinctions: Niépce Prize in 1955, then Nadar Prize for his photographic works. His role, however, goes beyond creation: he has been a tireless defender of photography as an art in its own right. In 1974, he founded the Château d'Eau gallery in Toulouse, the first public institution in France devoted solely to photography, which remains an essential.
